The ARIADNEplus project is a research infrastructure for archaeological data, which is building on the results of the ARIADNE project, extending and supporting the research community, developing relationships with key stakeholders such as the most important European archaeological associations, researchers, heritage professionals, national heritage agencies and so on. ARIADNE covers all archaeological domains, archaeological sciences such as palaeoanthropology, bioarchaeology and environmental archaeology, and all periods from the appearance of hominids to present times.
The ARIADNEplus data infrastructure includes a Virtual Research Environments where data-based archaeological research may be carried out, a searchable catalogue of datasets including unpublished reports, images, maps, databases and other kinds of archaeological information accessible on line (ARIADNE portal). The project is making innovative services available to users such as visualization, annotation, text mining and geo-temporal data management, and developing and testing pilots. ARIADNE also offers Transnational Access, training and good practice guidelines.

Europeana is Europe's digital cultural heritage platform, providing online access to a vast store of cultural heritage material from across Europe, aiming to share and promote this heritage so that it can be used and enjoyed by people across the world. It currently provides access to over 58 million digitised items from more than 3500 European libraries, museums, archives and galleries. This huge database represents a great media, thematic and language variety – you can find images, text, audio, video and 3D content on art, archaeology, architecture, maps, films, natural history, fashion and more in over 37 languages. A big part of this content – over 20 million items – is openly licensed and can be freely reused. CARARE is a partner in the Europeana Digital Service Infrastructure https://pro.europeana.eu/project/europeana-dsi-4 which is an initiative of the European Commission and is funded under the Connecting Europe Facility. Currently in phase 4 , the DSI operates the Europeana core service platform. The service is provided by a consortium of 21 partners coordinated by the Europeana Foundation and comprises of aggregators and expert hubs, technology providers amongst others.
4CH started on the 1st January 2021 and will run for three years. The project will set up the methodological, procedural, and organizational framework of a Competence Centre for the conservation of cultural heritage. This centre will work with a network of national, regional, and local Cultural Institutions, providing them with advice, support, and services focused on the preservation and conservation of historical monuments and sites.
Europeana Archaeology ran from 1st February 2019 to the 31st October 2020 and was co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility of the European Union. The project increased the amount of high-quality digital content for Europe’s rich heritage of archaeological monuments, historic buildings, cultural landscapes and artefacts accessible online through Europeana and available for reuse. The Europeana Archaeology project was lead by the University of Vilnius Faculty of Communication with a consortium of 15 partners. CARARE was an associated partner of the project providing support for the aggregation of content to Europeana. The “Sharing new perspectives” project ran from 1st September 2018 to 28th February 2020 and was co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility of the European Union. The project, which adopted the short name of Share3D, used 3D as a driver to encourage users to discover, select and interact with content made accessible through Europeana. It developed a Story Maker tool to enable users to select 3D and other materials published on Europeana and Sketchfab to create stories. Share3D also developed a Dashboard to enable cultural heritage institutions that are publishing 3D models on Sketchfab to share this content with Europeana by adding the metadata needed by Europeana. The Athena Research Centre was project coordinator with a consortium comprising of two creative industry partners (Visual Dimension and NoHo), one university (Vilnius University Faculty of Communication) and CARARE.
Funded by the Digital Europe programme, the project will deliver high-quality 3D content to Europeana and develop re-use scenarios around education, tourism and more. CARARE members the Discovery Programme and University of Jaen are also partners in the project.
The Tech4Heritage project began in January 2023. It is an inclusive Iraqi/European initiative which has received funding from the EC's Creative Europe programme to train people to 3D preservation of the Cultural Heritage in Nassiriyah, Babylon, Baghdad, Mosul and Sulaimaniyeh.
